Aurel

Aurel is a very beautiful village situated in the Sault region on the border of the Vaucluse, in la Drome and the Alpes de Haute Provence.

Whether you arrive via the “route de Sault” or descend via the “plateau de Ferrassieres”, you will be enchanted by the beauty of the village that is surrounded by a wild, mountainous landscape.

During a walk through the village, you will be overwhelmed by the beautiful narrow streets and the old stone houses.

They are grouped around the massive old church and the tower of the 12th century castle.

Aurel is famous for the quality of its light, and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Painters love coming here to work.

Rene Seyssaud and Pierre Ambrigiani were among the first to be inspired by the colour of the lavender, the golden wheat fields and the shadows cast by the foothills of Mont Ventoux…
